Those crazy kids from R5 just rock my world! Always fun to go up to the observatory at The Empire State building and shoot celebs and check out those undies! I think Elmo was my favorite although I'm not sure if it was the real Elmo or one of those Times Square impostors.

Ronnie Vannucci, The Killers. Modern Drummer cover shoot. February 2013
This shot is one of those images that I didn't realize was as good as it was but that my amazing editor Scott plucked out of my edit and ran with. I love the shot. The rim lighting around Ronnie's head was done with a remote strobe I set up back there. As I moved around I couldn't tell if I was going to get completely flared out or get what I was aiming for. Between Ronnie moving as he was playing and me moving around and trying different angles there were a lot of variables. They really came together in this image. Crosby Stills and Nash at SiriusXM on October 17, 2012
What a tremendous thrill to get to shoot these guys and listen their interview. They are funny as hell and so smart and getting to work with one of the bands that made the soundtrack of my life is such a blast.

Kiss at SiriusXM Monster Town Hall
Guess who's in the photo booth. The shots that Paul Stanley did in the booth were amazing. Every shot was different and he came up with something interesting for each one. That's not easy when you have like a second between flashes.
Some of the approved shots of Kiss. Paul Stanley , Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer at SiriusXM's Town hall on 10/11/12.

Masahiro Morimoto Iron chef cooks some comfort food at Canvas
Two lights here, one off to the right and behind him Gobo'd for the rim lighting and separation, another off to the left and in front with a diffusion filter for main light and fill. The background was the restaurant's signature wallpaper which was a tiny strip of wall covering but just enough to fill the frame. Very happy with the way this turned out. Shot for the Pulse Section of The New York Post on August 22nd. It made the inside cover of the section when it ran.

Alex Schibli the King of Rats Island for The New York Post Pulse cover and jump
Alex Schibli bought an island in the New York Archepelegio that he can call his own and we went out there in canoes and rowboats to shoot his family having a picnic on it. It was hot, the rowboat paddles gave me blisters. The shoot was scheduled for 12 noon, probably the worst time of day lighting wise. In short it was rough. I had to use fill flash to deal with the harsh shadows and the heat was intense. Still in the end it worked out ( have some minor emotional scars from the experience but nothing too bad) and it made the cover of The Pulse section of the New York Post today and the jump which helps with the healing process alot. Amanda Palmer connects with her fans in The New York Times
Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls celebrated her record breaking kickstarter campaign at The Loft in Brooklyn with her band Grand Theft Orchestra and her husband Neil Gaiman and a large group of adoring fans. The gallery has some of the pictures that got away and didn't run in the article published June 6, 2012 including this portrait which I love. This was a single strobe with soft box off to the left on a remote cord and a long exposure to catch the ambient light bouncing off the water tower silos behind her. I felt like they added a Bladerunner aspect to the image and love the effect.

This was the cover story plus the jump inside and another story on the Queens Jubilee over the weekend in Saturday June 2nd's edition of the paper.

Carole Radziwill of Real Housewives of New York at The Setai 5th avenue. Cover of todays Pulse Section.

Carole was really fun to work with and for some reason thought she looked heavy - she's got a great bod and is gorgeous and was great during the shoot. Big shout out to Maria , Tory and Lisa for putting this together.

Half Marathon runners old & young. Pulse cover in The New York Post May 19, 2012
Cover

Susan Siderman is in her 70's and ran the UAE Healthy Kidney 10k run on May 12th and finished it. The same morning I shot the beautiful light shot in an earlier post. Lauren Mantel was training for the half marathon in Brooklyn and also successfully finished that race. I recreated the lighting from May 12th with Lauren so she was back lit with a long shadow coming out in front of her and then used fill light from the sun to light her face. It's hard to see most of that in the shot because the image was silhouetted but you get a sense of it from the modeling on her calves and the hair light.See more from the gallery, which turned into a bit of a modeling shoot here.

Gimme some room to eat! Pulse cover story in today's New York Post
This was a bit of a harrowing shoot. The restaurant was packed and it was hard to find a table to sit the models at that would give me the head-on angle I needed for this shot. I had a remote triggered flash set up to the left of frame for hair light, background and separation and an on camera soft box for fill. We got kicked out of two different table setups because the people eating near us complained about the strobes going off.

Birthday Party Takeovers.
This was a story about people having their birthday parties at venues without
letting the club know. Frankly if Courtney Driver (above) decided she and her
posse wanted to take over my bar, I think I'd be ok with it.
